FROM OUR HOMELAND TO NEW HAVEN
A name rooted in family.
A place to belong.
من بلادنا إلى نيو هيفن — عمو يجمعنا
Amo — عمو — means “uncle” in Arabic. For us, the name brings back visits to an uncle’s house: a welcoming door, great coffee, and time spent with family. Those moments of warmth and connection are where the idea for Amo’s began.
Growing up in the United States, it can feel harder to hold on to the family ties and shared moments that bring us together. Amo’s grew from the wish to make room for them again—to create a place that feels like coming home, where a cup of coffee becomes a reason to sit, talk, and stay a little longer.
Our inspiration comes from across North Africa and the Middle East. It lives in a cup beside the Nile, an evening along the Corniche, and conversations shared in desert and mountain towns. The flavors, aesthetics, and cultures of those places come together here—a celebration of our heritage, our culture, and our people.
We bring that shared sense of home to New Haven through coffee, tea, refreshing drinks, and familiar sweets. Families can spend time together, friends can reconnect, and new faces can become familiar through movie nights, games, and everyday conversations.
The dream is a gathering place we can call our own: a space where everyone can be themselves without fear, share their culture openly, and feel they belong. Our heritage, our culture, and our people are at the heart of Amo’s—and our door is open to everyone.
Whether you grew up with these flavors or are discovering them for the first time, there’s a place for you at Amo’s.
